Grand Parade (William Hill)For the last 12 years, Bartek has worked on most stages of the software creation process, starting as a support professional, later as an engineer, managing software and infrastructure architecture and finally leading a part of an organization, comprising of several teams responsible for the entire lifecycle of a product. At Grand Parade (an engineering part of Willam Hill, an online bookmaker), Bartek is responsible for gaming (i.e. everything that is not sports betting) for the entire catalog of William Hill brands and jurisdictions.

When the board sets a new direction for the company, commercial stakeholders need to come up with new ideas, POs build a product that fits the ideas, architects design, engineers implement. Congratulations all around! We have a new system! Too bad that it’s exactly the same as our old one… Let’s dive into why even when everyone at every stage of a project seems to want to build “the new”, we end up with same ol’ same ol’.
